Michael Ellis
Michael Ellis has a Diploma of Shiatsu and Oriental Therapies (1995) and a Bachelor of Health Sciences (Traditional Chinese Medicine, 2001), along with a certificate in Tuina (Chinese massage), and has been a trainer at East West College since 1999.
Michael has a particular interest in diagnosis and the value of palpation, and also emphasises the need for a solid grasp of the time-honoured principles of 20 centuries of Eastern medicine, which gives students a perspective with which to understand the place and possibilities of shiatsu therapy, and a solid foundation for future study in the field of body energetics. (In fact, he’s almost as passionate about Oriental medicine as he is about surfing, and that’s saying something!)
A member of the Chinese Medicine Registration Board of Victoria since 2001, Michael is co-editor of The Lantern, Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine, an Australian published international journal focusing on the traditional and clinical aspects of Chinese medicine (see www.thelantern.com.au).
He runs a clinic in Mt Eliza using shiatsu hand in hand with Chinese herbal medicine, his website is http://www.michaelellis.com.au/ and his contact details at the clinic are:
